In this journey:
Travel Plan:
  1. August 1
Arrival in Lima, check-in at the hotel. First acquaintance with the capital of Peru.
  2. August 2
Bus or walking tour of Lima. The historic city center (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), where you can see the Cathedral of Lima, the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Municipality, and much more, including the famous carved wooden balconies in the Hispano-Moorish style, a legacy of the Spanish colonial period. In general, South American capitals amaze with their colonial grandeur and New World expansiveness! We will explore the San Isidro district, with its old parks and ancient pyramids, as well as the coastal district of Miraflores, known for its beautiful parks along the Pacific Ocean, including the famous Love Park.

Explore the bohemian Barranco district. Walk along the promenade.

  3. August 3
Flight to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. Walking tour of the historic city center. Here you can see the main square, San Pedro Market, the bohemian San Blas district, the ancient Qorikancha — the most important temple during the Inca Empire, and examples of the famous «stone masonry.»
  4. August 4
Visit to unique sites and iconic architectural monuments around Cusco. We will explore Qenqo, Tambomachay, Puka Pukara, Sacsayhuaman, and Qorikancha — the main temple of the Sun and Moon in the Inca Empire. Continuation of the tour of one of the oldest cities in the world.
  5. August 5
Transfer to Aguas Calientes, a welcoming town that serves as the «gateway» to Machu Picchu. The town is located in a very pleasant climate zone. Visit to a waterfall and bathing in natural thermal springs.
  6. August 6
Trip by eco-bus to Machu Picchu. Visit to the lost city. This place leaves no one indifferent, being not only historically and archaeologically significant but also incredibly beautiful! Evening return to Cusco. Walk around the ancient capital.
  7. August 7
Flight back to Lima, check-in at the hotel. Continuation of the city tour. Walks through the most beautiful parts of the affluent areas of the city.
  8. August 8
Further exploration of Lima. Transfer to Paracas — another amazing place in Peru. Check-in at an oceanfront hotel.
  9. August 9
Departure to the port and then a boat trip to the Ballestas Islands. The Ballestas Islands are home to thousands of sea lions and massive bird colonies of various species: cormorants, seagulls, albatrosses, frigates, boobies, pelicans, and terns. Here you can also spot penguins that have ventured far north from Antarctica. The boat trip starts at the island of Ballestas, where the famous «Candelabra» — a mysterious figure carved into hard sandstone — is located. It is visible only from the sea, and the time, authorship, and purpose of its creation remain unclear. Some believe that it was carved by the same culture that created the Nazca lines and that it represents the sacred San Pedro cactus, still used in shamanic rituals. After the «Candelabra,» the boat takes a half-hour journey to the islands themselves. In the 19th century, a true Pacific War erupted between Peru and Chile over these islands, or rather over the highly valuable bird droppings known as guano, used as fertilizer at the time.

The boat comes quite close to the sea lion colonies, where young «pups» put on real circus performances. The Ballestas Islands are an amazing nature reserve, famous for their Humboldt penguin colonies.

Visit the Paracas Peninsula Reserve. Swimming in the Pacific Ocean and sunbathing on the beach. Lunch at a restaurant in the reserve area. The Paracas Peninsula is made of compressed sand in various colors — from yellow to red and brown. On a sunny day, the colors are stunning. Here you can see flocks of pink flamingos feeding in the coastal lagoons. You can also see the so-called Cathedral — a sandstone rock shaped by surf and erosion to resemble a monumental cathedral of gigantic proportions.

  10. August 10
Return to Lima. Check-in at a hotel in the affluent coastal district. Visit to Lima’s museums and learning some facts about Peru’s history.
  11. August 11
Flight to the beautiful foothill city of Chachapoyas in Peru. Check-in at the hotel. First exploration of the city. Chachapoyas is located in northern Peru, at an altitude of 2,235 meters above sea level. The city is known for its stunning views, unique waterfalls, and the ancient fortress of Kuélap, a UNESCO World Heritage site. White houses with carved balconies give it a special charm.
  12. August 12
Visit to the archaeological complex of Kuélap and other places related to the Chachapoyas culture. Detailed exploration of unique locations.
  13. August 13
Departure and hike to the giant Gocta waterfall. Visitors are treated to unparalleled views, rarely accessible for observation.
  14. August 14
Flight back to the capital of Peru. Check-in at a coastal district hotel. Walk along the seafront.
  15. August 15
    Flight home.

Encounters with Remarkable People

Konstantin Roninio’s new book, released in 2023.

This book consists of stories: stories from my life and the lives of the remarkable people I have met. Most events in my book take place in Latin America, especially in Peru and Mexico. I’ve fallen in love with this region, have lived here for a long time, and continue working here. And I constantly meet remarkable people, both those who live here and those who visit from other parts of the world.
