An excerpt from Konstantin Roninio’s book «Meetings with Remarkable People».
…During one Mexican expedition, a curious and amusing incident took place. At the beginning of the journey, we stayed in Mexico City. We explored its landmarks and visited pyramids outside the city. The expedition participants also had free time to spend as they wished. A group of three women from Crimea decided to visit the historic city center. There, they noticed a very long line of people standing in front of the cathedral. The line slowly moved inside the massive cathedral. Out of curiosity, they decided to join the line. After some time, they found themselves inside the cathedral and later in front of a deceased person’s body. They didn’t speak Spanish, so they couldn’t ask anyone who this person was. After observing the scene, they left. They later shared this story with me on our way to the desert, but I didn’t think much of it at the time.
In the Wirikuta desert, we conducted peyote ceremonies. One of the women from that group, named Irina, made contact with the soul of that deceased person. It’s important to note that Irina is a person with special qualities. After going through a traumatic experience, she developed a form of cancer at a relatively young age. During that time, while she was in the hospital, she learned that a young woman had abandoned her child after giving birth. Irina decided to adopt the child. This unexpected act gave her life new meaning. Later, she adopted another child from an orphanage. Irina’s illness didn’t completely disappear, but it took a back seat as she focused her energy on raising and caring for both her biological and adopted children. I’m sure that this gave her the strength to continue living. At that time, she and her second husband owned a chain of pharmacies in the city of Saky. Before the events in Crimea in 2014, she and other family members regularly joined our expeditions, leaving the fondest memories with everyone who met them. Unfortunately, I lost contact with this family after that.
During that peyote ceremony, Irina encountered the spirit of the deceased person she had seen in the cathedral. He told her that he was suffering greatly because his body was being transported from country to country and put on display. He said he was tired of this and wanted his body to be laid to rest. This wasn’t just a fleeting thought in her mind; it was a dialogue between two souls. After the ceremony, Irina shared this surprising experience of communicating with the deceased with me. This time, I paid a bit more attention to the story. I began to suspect who it might be. When we were leaving Wirikuta and heading back to Mexico City after a series of ceremonies, Irina pointed out a poster on the bus – «That’s who I spoke to.» The poster featured John Paul II, the recently deceased Pope. My suspicions were confirmed. I’ve read and heard many interesting stories about this man, including from people who had the chance to meet him personally. It’s entirely possible that he was unhappy with his body being displayed in various countries after his death. In his final years, public life weighed heavily on him…
